The Soundtracks

General Information:

There were 3 albums (on LP and cassette) and a 7" single released during the run of the animated series Genesis Climber Mospeada.

They are: Volume #1 (self-titled), Volume 2, Volume 3 Live At: Pit Inn, and a single of the opening and ending themes.

A large majority of the music was written by Joe Hisaishi, famous for the music from ALL of the Hayao Miyazaki Studio Ghibli films - like Tonari No Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro), Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke), Nausicaa and Kiki's Delivery Service, amongst many others.

All of the album covers (and character designs for the show) were done by Yoshitaka Amano, well known for his designs on Final Fantasy and Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets, G Force), as well as having a large amount of illustrated work in print.

Fan demand was high after the show's cancellation and the producers (Tatsunoko Productions) decided to quell the fans desire for more with a video collection called Genesis Climber Mospeada Love, Live, Alive. An approx. 1 hour video that collects key moments from the series, Love, Live, Alive also has new footage of a Yellow Belmont (Lancer) concert, including a brand new soundtrack that was released on LP, CD and cassette.

A year later a CD collection of the show's songs was released under the title Genesis Climber Mospeada Super Collection. In the early '90s Volume 1 and Volume 2 were re-released on CD for a short time. Volume 3 Live At: Pit Inn, which contains half live music and half spoken word, was not re-released on CD at that time.

There is also a 2 CD set from Victor Entertainment that contains Volumes 1-3.

Love, Live, Alive

Love, Live, Alive was created by Tatsunoko Productions as a result of a small, but extremely dedicated group of fans. This group of Mospeada otaku started a letter writing campaign to the producers begging for more after the last episode left the fate of the characters hanging. As anyone who has seen the very last episode of Robotech The New Generation knows, the series end leaves you wanting more. Even though the main plot point of the alien invasion is resolved, what most of the characters decide to do in the furture is a bit ambiguous. Love, Live, Alive answers those questions in an original way - and not quite what you would expect from a sci-fi series. The video contains new footage of a Yellow concert mixed with action scenes from the series and shows the characters reuniting once again before going on with their lives. The entire video has a somber mood to it, even though the songs are upbeat, the feeling of finality is certainly there.
The Love, Live, Alive OAV video, soundtrack LP, cassette, and CD were released in 1985. The soundtrack contains 11 tracks. Victor Entertainment, Inc.

Tracks:
Mind Tree
Fire!
Clap!! Clap!! Clap!!
